[ In spite of all the alleged mermaid sightings in the area, it's probably been some time since Sonico began trying to seek one out with no success whatsoever. That's probably because there are some VERY strict cultural laws about human-mermaid interactions, laws with significant consequences for disobedience. It would take a mermaid with very little respect for the old ways and either a lot of balls or a complete lack of care for their well-being to breach them, and where would she ever find one of those?

Maybe leaning over the edge of her raft, find beneath the water with his arms folded on its surface as he watches her scan the water on the opposite side. She hasn't noticed him yet - he could leave right now, and no one would be any the wiser. ]

You know, if you sank out here and drowned I don't think anyone would ever find you.

[ it's not often that Sonico travels so far from the atelier, and truth be told, she doesn't really like to. She can defend herself just fine but she doesn't like to fight and it's only the fact that she needs some of the shells and stones that wash up on this particular beach that gets her to come here. It's been a bit of a journey, and she's more than a little tired, but it should be worth it in the end.

She doesn't expect to run into any monsters so close to the shore, but she's got her eyes peeled and her ears perked just in case. It'd be embarrassing to come this far and have to go running back in embarrassment, but even so, she doubts she's going to find anything more interesting than some fish and fauna. ]

[Rin's thought he's seen everything in his 18 years, but the sight of the slender merman flailing in the water as if he doesn't even know what to do with his tail has to be the weirdest one yet. The merman's struggles are so pathetic that Rin has to remind himself that merpeople don't eat other merpeople because the guy is sure looking like his usual prey right now. Not to mention that he's somehow ended up in shark waters when he's clearly not of their kind. Not that Rin's seen a merman like him in any of his travels, as unathorized as they may be.

And are those pieces of two-leg weeds hanging from his arms? Why the hell would a mermaid have those? Okay, so maybe Rin had dabbled in the weird coverings once or twice when an unsuspecting two-leg left them too close to the shallow waters. It wasn't the most compatible with the dentricles on his skin. But the ones on this merman appeared shredded. Had the guy done that himself? Why?

But the most startling of all, aside from the disastrous attempt to swim, were the bizarre bits of twisted shell on the merman's face.]

[Rin swims around the cove impatiently. It's ridiculously more shallow than he prefers and the pebbles at the bottom keep brushing against his belly and tail in ways that are less than comfortable. Not to mention that he has to keep looking up toward the shore in case some high-strung two-leg comes to ruin his fun. They always threw such a fit over his dorsal fin, screaming in their undecipherable language and forcing him to return to deeper waters before more of them fetched their pesky nets.

Though he couldn't begrudge their methods too much. Their stupid habits were the reason he had met the merman he now waited for. He'd discovered him thrashing around in one of those nets, surrounded by a whole school of two-legs. Rin hadn't realized he was a merman at the time and just assumed the two-legs were poaching his supply again. It hadn't taken much to scare them off, he didn't even need to come out of the water. Just approached with his dorsal fin in plain sight and they had scattered, as they always did, giving the mermaid plenty of time to flounder his way back close enough for Rin to snatch with his clawed fingers and yank further into his waters.

Only after the merman had angrily slapped him with his powerful tail had Rin actually realized what he caught. Fortunately for their now awkward friendship, the mermaid had still been unable to free himself from the net and had required Rin's help. Or rather Rin's teeth. How they had pieced together a friendship from there, Rin still had no idea.

But it also wasn't a friendship remotely approved of by his shiver. Which is why they had to meet in annoying places like this, places no other shark would dare to venture. Only Rin was foolhardy enough to steal back from the two-legs. Well, they deserved it. If they wanted his fish so much, they could try asking. Until then, he'd make their lives hell.

Speaking of making someone's life hell, where the hell is Haruka anyway? He slaps his tail impatiently against the cove's sand bed. The idiot better not be in trouble again. It's not his job to constantly play babysitter for a dumb merman.]

Finally a day off. He may think Gilbert was a pathetic guy when it came to personal stuff, but he was a task master when it came to training. Dave ached in places that he didn't know could ache, and hurt in places that he definitely knew could. But ironically, he didn't want to spend his day off at home, lazing about the house. His brother might have been part of the reason for it, damn puppet fetishist. So instead, Dave decided to spend the day by the water and ironically fish like a damn stereotype.

Only problem, he didn't know how to fish. Yep, laugh it up. Dave knew enough to bring a fishing pole, a hook, and some worms as bait, but other than that, he didn't know what he was doing. Still sitting at the pier with a fishing pole and some worms was different from staying at home and getting puppet dong shoved in his face. It was better than nothing, after all.
