I'll tell you a tale of the bottomless blue

Rules:
- Put down your character name and series in the subject header. Put down any preferences (romantic or if you're a mermaid/human) in the comment.
- Reply to other people! RNG a choice from the prompts below, or just come up with whatever on your own.
- This is not a strictly romance meme. Feel free to have whatever shenanigans you like.
Merfolk and Merfolk
1.
Little Mermaid it
♢ One of you is a merperson with something you want. (Power? Help figuring out what this weird human doodad is? Becoming human?) The other is a powerful sea mage of some sort... And for the first of you, you better hope they're the good sort as you venture forth to their lair...
2.
Exploration
♢ C'mon. What's the worst that could happen when checking out this enormous sunken ship at the bottom of the ocean? You're merpeople! What's the worst that could happen? (Besides sharks. Or giant squid. Or maybe worse.)
3.
New tides
♢ Hey... That person isn't from around these parts, are they...? Maybe one of you is from deep seas, or a swamp-mer way out of your territory, or just from simply a different ocean. Hopefully neither of you are particularly territorial...
4.
Hey there, Ariel
♢ So. Looks like one of you actually took up on some sea witch's deal and is living in some human settlement. The other? Is trying to help you deal with that. Whether it means puzzling out human culture and items with you, pleading with you to come back home, or even offering you a dagger just in case you need to stab your crush (what? it's a legitimate strategy), you two need to cope.
5.
Wildcard.
Merfolk and Humans
1.
For Science!
♢ You're a scientist, here to study a fascinating new creature. Although the 'creature' in question might take offense to you saying that... So are you searching them out for the first time in the open ocean? Keeping them in some sort of containment? It's up to you.
2.
Stranded
♢ There was a shipwreck, and you're the sole survivor... Although you very nearly weren't. Whether you've just woken up or have been trying to puzzle things out on this deserted island, well... It seems you're not alone, although they're not exactly on the island with you.
3.
Siren Song
♢ Merpeople aren't always good signs... Sometimes they lure sailors out onto rocks, or extinguish their stamina and drown them in the ocean's tumultuous waters. Is this another encounter that will end in tragedy?
4.
Chance Encounter
♢ You're nothing extraordinary, just a regular person in a beach town, and one way or another... You find something that's very much not regular. Maybe you just walked into the cove at the right time, or found something- someone- trapped or injured that needed your help. So now what?

I thought you were far away from where you needed to be.
[No comment on whether the rumor about her kind is true or not.]
no subject
[Mukuro's gaze was sharp, his head canted to the side, half amusement and half mocking. Because two could play the deflection game.]
no subject
[Except she really is starting to get annoyed at the idea of not getting paid in exchange for giving up a perfectly good meal, so she gives a wet huff.]
We'll have to see when we get to land.
no subject
[He kept his paddling steady, though he did spare her an amused smirk.]
In this instance, I'll keep my word. You'll only befall as much harm as I have.
fast foward time?
[Because sirens need to eat, you know. And it's so fun to hear the ships being torn about by rocky teeth, like a prelude to what will happen to those onboard...]
Let's hope it's not any harm at all.
sure thing o/
The rest of time passed uneventfully, and it didn't take long to reach the shore. Once he was successfully out of the boat, he made sure to sink it just in case. He was a criminal, after all. He dusted off his hands, exhausted, but ready to start the trek to where he could contact his fellow conspirators and keep his word to the siren. He wiped his face off on his sleeve, before turning back to M.M.]
Your decision?
no subject
[While he's been taken care of his little boat problem, she's been lounging in the shallows with her elbows in the sand and her chin in her hand. Humans are self serving creatures, completely untrustworthy. How much worth do their words really have? Well, in this case, they might be worth gold. That's enough of a reward to risk betrayal, maybe...]
[In the back of her throat, she makes a strange popping sound. It's definitely one of annoyance.]
I'm coming along. Stay right there.
[Pushing herself, she launches herself back into the deeper waters and clearly starts to make for rockier shores. Sirens habitate them in the far off seas easily, so it's no trouble for her at all to navigate the tides so she doesn't smash herself to bits. Wiggling onto the rocks where the waves can't sweep her off, MM huffs.]
[It's been a long time since she's used this particular song, but it's not like she could forget.]
[The tune that falls from her lips isn't like the high rising song her kind so often sings to lure men to their deaths. That one is like a tidal wave, inconspicuous at the start until it's risen high above and crashing down on a ship. This is softer. Gentler. Tides lapping lazily at shore. She sings it to herself, not to others, as she takes her thumb claw and presses it to her hip where the scales are thick. Siren claws are made for cutting through flesh, but this is a slice smoother than most as she leans to take it as far as her reach will go. Steadfast and efficient, she keeps going until from the mess of blood and scales she can pry away legs.]
[MM makes a face. They always look so weird to her, and getting up to a standing position is a pain in the fin. Yet once that's managed, she kicks the scales into the water for the tide to carry away. Let the sharks and bottomfeeders have it. She's no selkie.]
[Of course, this means when she clambers over the rocks back to the sandier parts of the beach, she's covered only in gold and gore, but she's not bothered by it.]
Alright, I'm ready.
no subject
The sound of a song made him put his hands to his ears instinctively, gritting his teeth to prepare to fight it, but when no humans came ambling towards the shore, he tentatively loosened his grip. This song sounded less like a lure and more like a song someone might sing while working. Weaving was the first thing that came to mind, and curiously, Mukuro took a few steps towards the ocean to see what the siren might be doing when she reappeared, looking as if she had killed something using only her legs.
...It was a good thing Chikusa wasn't here to see this. The mess and gore would have sent him into a coma.]
We'll be jailed before we even make it to a city. Wash yourself off and put this on.
[Casually, Mukuro shrugged off one of his thicker and longer jackets.]
no subject
[Still, for her complaining, she does go back into the water and do a relatively thorough job of letting it wash off her legs. Things past the thighs are a bit more sloppy, but that's what the coat is for, right? Taking it from him when she's done, she raises an eyebrow as she shrugs into it.]
So where now? This is your land.
[Aka where to now?]
no subject
[As if Mukuro wasn't human himself, but you know. He was his own, etc etc. He waited patiently, watching as she washed herself off, a bit impressed at how easily she seemed to balance on two feet. He would have thought the transition would have been more awkward, but perhaps she had done this often enough.
At the question, he let out a small chuckle, turning to survey the rocky terrain surrounding the mountains.]
The nearest village. Shoes will be necessary unless your feet are tougher than they look.
[He canted his head to the side to look at her, eyes half lidded with amusement and the normal hint of mockery.]
Or should I carry you?
no subject
[Don't test her. She's enough of a little shit that she'll just climb onto his back if he lets her.]
no subject
Kufufu you look about the same as a sack of potatoes that I've had to carry before. It shouldn't be difficult.
[Wow comparing a lady to a sack of potatoes good job Mukuro. Still, he won't even joke about manual labor for too long, instead starting forward into the rock terrain, which would soon give way to a forest. The area was familiar, and soon they'd come to a path that might be easier on her.]
Have you been on land before?
no subject
[Jeez. The next time she listens to some jerk promising her gold, maybe she should pick a human with some decent manners to go along with it.]
[MM follows him with only mild grumbling, arms crossed and hands tucked against her sides where the comfort of the jacket is worth at least something. Her attention flicks to the trees often enough, seeming to find them new and thus a source of wariness, but she always makes sure to return her gaze to Mukuro's back.]
Aaah, maybe once or twice. I'd have next to nothing if I just waited for ships to crash that happened to have valuables.
no subject
[Mukuro Rokudo, that's who. And let's be honest, any human would have better manners than him.
He followed the path easily enough, pace moderate and steady, stretching slightly as he went. The boat had been cramped, as had the holding cell before that, and it felt good to be able to walk freely again.
That answer caught Mukuro's attention, his gaze turning back towards her.]
How dull. I would have thought sirens would have more to look forward to.
no subject
[Maybe she should have stayed by the water... Just so that there was a place where she could drown him a little when his mouth got smart. Oh well. Hindsight is what it is. At least she's not petty enough to start throwing rocks at the back of his head.]
[Yet.]
Quality over quantity- I'd rather expand my hoard than any of the other little things out there that don't make me look good.
no subject
I find it hard to believe there are things that don't become you.
[The path was starting to give way to something that was better paved, the village coming into view. It would be dawn soon, but Mukuro was planning to steal a few necessities and be long gone before the first villager awoke.]
no subject
[But she's obviously quite pleased about the appeal to her vanity. So he does learn. Good to know!]
[As the road becomes better paved, MM seems to contemplate the approaching village. She's starting to frown again. Not because she's worried, but...]
You know, I'm getting pretty hungry. You were supposed to be my meal.
no subject
[Because that came to him just as easily. He was in the middle of snagging a few clothes that looked like they would fit M.M. when she spoke again. He held out a few dresses to her, still intent on finding shoes. He didn't look too disturbed by that, instead chuckling. It shouldn't surprise him that a jewelry obsessed siren would be such high maintenance.]
Shoes first. If we have to run, I don't want your feet getting cut up.
[Then, an acquiescence:]
Other than humans, what do you eat?
no subject
[As if she hadn't just made a threat, MM takes the clothing offered and holds it closer to herself as she glances down to it. Human fashion is full of intricacies. So much so, in fact, that one could call it needlessly complicated. But then, that was the history of their people, wasn't it? Needlessly complicated, forever and always.]
[Still. If she's going to wear their clothing, she's going to look good in it.]
Make sure they're nice. And hm... Humans would be best, but enough with enough fat or meat to it is fine, I guess.
no subject
[Though Mukuro would still be careful about resting around her regardless. It was a good thing his need for sleep was less than most.
He snorted at the command, as if somehow he would choose something that wouldn't be fitting, but didn't argue other than that. The stipulations made him pause as he looked around the small village thoughtfully, eyes resting on a few pigs sleeping peacefully nearby.]
Does it have to be cooked?
no subject
....I thought you were smart.
[Where, in the middle of the ocean, would it be advisable to cook meat without a fire going out. Why bother. This is so dumb.]
What do you have in mind?
no subject
Those. But eating them raw isn't appealing to me.
no subject
[She'd forgotten humans needed to do that. Usually they're dead before she has to worry about that kind of thing.]
[Shit it's like having to watch out for a pet.]
[Making her way over to the pent, she shoves up one sleeve away from her still clawed hand. She prrrrobably shouldn't get blood on this, considering how he'd told her to clean up before.]
How much do you eat anyway?
no subject
He followed after her, using one of the dresses that she hadn't liked to scoop up and wrap the pig up. It made a minimal amount of noise, but Mukuro was already heading towards the edge of town. He only paused to nod over to a pair of shoes sitting on the outside steps of a house that looked like they would fit M.M.]
A leg or two would suffice. You can have the rest.
[Which wasn't as much as a whole person, but that might be easier to take care of in a larger town.]
no subject
[Having feet are one thing. Shoes just make the whole experience even stranger.]
What a light eater. No wonder you're so skinny.
