MERMAID AU MEME

Rules:
● Put down character name and series in subject line.
● Add any preferences (romance and/or general, human and/or mer) in comment.
● Reply to other people!

Scenarios:

1 ♢ Little Mermaid
♢ Mer
♢ One of you is a mer person with something you want. The other is a powerful mage who can possibly give it to you. Can an arrangement be made...?

2 ♢ Exploration
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ Whatever you are, your curiosity has gotten the best of you. Whether it's a sunken shipwreck on the bottom of the ocean or a mysterious cove hidden away along the cliffside... Venturing with a friend or running into something unexpected... What will you find?

3 ♢ Exchange
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ Sometimes, territories are broached, but it's not always a bad thing. Whether you're of entirely different species, or just from different seas, you've met in peaceful circumstances- perhaps as a direct result of those! So it's time for a cultural exchange. Just ignore the fresh water mer.

4 ♢ For Science
♢ Mer and Human
♢ This is a one in a lifetime chance.... for at least one person. Are you on an isolated island? A ship far out to sea? A highly funded aquarium? Or perhaps even a laboratory with more than questionable methods... Either way, you have the chance now to study something rarely seen before. How will it turn out for both of you?

5 ♢ Ariel's Dream
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ Some say it's impossible for a mer to live on dry land... except that's been quietly proven wrong. One of you has taken to living among humans, whether for years or still learning the ropes. As for the other... Are you a concerned friend, checking in on them from the sea? Or are you a landdweller, stumbling onto a great secret?

6 ♢ Sea Life
♢ Mer and Human
♢ While they have the legs for landdwelling, some humans seem to have more saltwater in their veins than blood, and those are the kinds of humans that end up with dealing with the mysteries of the sea the most. A surfer catching waves with shark mer? A pirate bartering with sirens for safe passage? A fisherman working together with those who know fish best? There's all sorts.

7 ♢ Stranded
♢ Mer and Human
♢ Well, fuck. Good job. One way or another, you're stuck where you shouldn't be. Whether that's a human lost in the tides, or a mer trapped against the land, you need help.... So don't be picky with what you do get.

8 ♢ Not Safe For Water
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ The scenario made explicitly for Guillermo Del Toro and anyone who was extremely anxious for a xeno sex scene in The Shape Of Water. Get your smut on. Feel free to mix and match it with any of the other scenarios as well.

9 ♢ Siren Song
♢ Mer and Human
♢ Sometimes, there's a good reason people fear the too wide expanse of the sea, or how deep its depths an reach... Strange songs which string through coastal towns and cause disappearances... The sound of something slipping through the water around a ship in the dead of night... Unexplained shapes which flicker outside of deep-sea vessels or submarines or installations. Do you want to know what's out there?

10 ♢ Capture
♢ Mer and Human
♢ Sometimes, there's a good reason why people fear humans. You don't belong here, being gawked at through thick aquarium glass or trapped in a too-small freakshow tank, but what can you do? Is there anyone who cares for your plight, or are there only people responsible for it?

11 ♢ Chance Encounter
♢ Mer and Human
♢ Well, this is awkward. You didn't mean to stumble onto a mer just... there, doing whatever, on the beach or by the docks or tangled up in your fishing net, but, well. It's happened. Now what?

12 ♢ Transformation
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ For one reason or another, you want to go where you've never gone before... A mer, venturing on the land either as a rare chance or every day business? Or a human, accepting some sort of trade or just to run away from the life you have now? Either way, it might get messy.... Feel free to mix in with other scenarios.

13 ♢ Fantasy Meets Fantasy
♢ Mer and OTHERS!
♢ Who's to say that humans are the only other creatures in the world? Maybe people living beneath the sea's waves aren't the only strange things. Maybe there are centaurs who travel along coastal roads to watch the night sky along with mer astronomers. Perhaps selkies are just distant cousins. Or who's to say that mer can't be a host of things unto themselves? The ocean's the limit.

14 ♢ Sci-fi
♢ Mer and Human
♢ Some say astronauts are nothing more than sailors venturing off into another unexplored sea, one that's above instead of below. And, befitting those same sailors of older days, they seem to tell tails of strange melodic frequencies coming in over the radio to their ears, and strange comets that look like tails passing them by on a landed planet. Do they not know what's accompanying them in space, or is that what they're actively chasing?

15 ♢ Divinity
♢ Mer and Human
♢ There are stories told of what exactly it is that could be both human and fish... So it's not surprising that, eventually, one would land upon calling them divine entities, either gods of the sea or lakes, or just their messengers. Is that true, or just a very clever, long lasting ruse?

16 ♢ Afterlife
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ Some say mer are just humans, wrongfully forced overboard by superstition or cruelty and welcomed by the sea into something more. Others say that they're the spirits, haunting a particular sea or lake town for a wrongful death. What's the truth? Time to find out.

17 ♢ Peaceful Living
♢ Mer and/or Human
♢ Not everything has to be a dramatic mess. Sometimes, things just... work out for the best. These are better times, and mer are just another part of life. Water-side towns where everything is built around those that share the waters with them, or huge metropolises with water tubes and sprouts for mer to travel through. How will you imagine this sort of life?

18 ♢ Wildcard
♢ follow your dreams, make up whatever

[Hi! Sorry about the delay, I was overseas on a trip for like a week. But I could roll with this. Not sure if you figure Sora to be the merfolk here? I assume so if only because. Axel/Lea and fire and all.]

[Makes sense. Maybe Lea's a sorcerer who Sora lures in because he wants legs? You wanna start or shall I?]

[I can now! Just pm if you want me to edit it or something?

Sora was always fascinated with the idea of other worlds. Of humans, in this case. The surface. He knew there had to be more out there, from the ships he found at the ocean floor. The things he found in those sunken ships. His trips to the surface to try get glimpses of them on occasion, against warnings from his friends, his family.

Still, that doesn't stop him. He's more curious than cautious, hence Sora himself not using his song to lure humans to their death in making their ships crash into the rocks. He's not malicious in that sense. Not towards humans, those he wants to find out more about, which killing them wouldn't get him any closer in figuring. No, that's why he does the opposite. Using his song to try lure a human so they might, maybe, hopefully, have some answers for him. Or, that's the plan anyway. As much as Sora makes any sort of plan that isn't made up within seconds before he actually acts.

Which is how he comes to encounter Lea. Hoping that he wasn't all that the others kept warning him about - that Lea wouldn't attack him on sight, wouldn't end up killing Sora anyway for dinner or something. He sings, still trying to remain hidden initially, as he moves through the water, trying to lead Lea to him.]

[Lea was no slouch when it came to sorcery, sure, but he also knew his stuff about the creatures best reserved for myth. For instance, he knew that the merfolk who kept singing under his window was DREADFULLY inexperienced, which probably meant he was young and there on a dare or something. Would hardly be the first time.

He wasn't affected as strongly by the song as a mere mundane would be, but the desire to dive out his tower window into the sea was still there, and was annoying as hell. For this reason, after several hours of nonstop song, he moved out of his bower on the coast and down to the shore itself, standing in the surf as if he were actually lured in.]

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-05-27 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
[Sora shifts, unsure on the timing of when to reveal himself, even if obviously, the song he sang gave him away as it was. The song itself giving Lea a direction in which to find him, to follow in the sound of his voice getting louder, as long as he kept it up.

He pauses when the ship stops, when he sees someone get out and head to the shore as he peeks over a rock. His hair probably gives him away even as he initially then hides back behind it. He's never seen a human so close before. Could he really do this? Talk to one? He'd imagined this. Dreamed of the chance and yet. Now it was possibly here he was as nervous and partly terrified as much as he was curious and excited.]
somebodyperfect: (Focused Intensity)

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-05-31 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Lea doesn't notice Sora there, not yet. But as he steps from the ship, there's a certain frustration in his stride, and on his face as he turns to face the shore.]

Alright, I'm here. What do you want?

[If this is over a dare he might just set the young mer's hair on fire.]
keybearing: (And I try to make this kind and clear)

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-05-31 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Sora starts, tensing when he hears the other speak. Lea is closer than he thought? Or, probably more like Sora is closer to shore than he realized. He bites his lip, seeming to steel himself before he pokes his head above the rock again, fins shifting in the water, creating ripples with his movement.]

I want....I want to learn more about humans.

[Sora exclaims. Probably trying to sound braver than he feels amid his remembering so many warnings over the years to avoid humans and all. His stomach feeling ill with butterflies from that and the combination of his curiosity and excitement if this might actually work.]
somebodyperfect: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-05-31 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
... Why?

[He doesn't mean to sound judgey or exasperated, but he kind of does. He's just... surprised. And tired. A merman who wants to learn about humans?]

They're a messy, judgemental lot. Mer culture's a lot nicer, kid.

[Coming from someone who secludes himself in a tower, that might not mean much, though. Lea's got a bit of a misanthropic streak.]
keybearing: (That maybe we'll find)

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-06-02 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
So I hear. But humans make such amazing things! They can't all be that bad. Not like everyone says. I mean. You haven't caught me yet.

[Right? Or. So Sora tells himself, in some sort of reassurance for his nerves, as he steels himself to brave venturing closer, but not too shallow, not too close yet. He tries not to think on how things must be for humans if even one of their own seems to dislike them. How that does not necessarily bode well. But if Sora had legs himself, he could judge and see for himself without relying on stories from others.]
somebodyperfect: (Thoughtful)

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-06-04 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to catch you.

[He's not, he's really not. But he needs to think.]

... How long have you wanted this?

[He's not giving in to a sudden fling.]
keybearing: Coloured by <user name=keybearing> (Not far behind)

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-06-06 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
How long? Years now. Probably since I first found that ship and explored inside. When I first found what the humans had left there when it -- what's the word? Sank?

[Though Sora has yet to even actually ask, yet to actually check if this human even had the ability to actually give him legs, even this much is amazing to him. To actually talk to a human. To think of all the answers he could get even just asking all those burning questions he has. Since of course Sora has no way to tell, no way to be sure if this human could actually give him legs. Yet. His fins are visible as he shifts through the water idly, their blue colour a little darker than the water itself surrounding him.]
somebodyperfect: (Uuuuh...)

Sorry for the Slow, had a very hard week.

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-06-13 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
So you've been thinking about this a while...

[That makes it harder to turn him down flat. This request isn't a simple fling. ... And believe it or not, Lea's not a total asshole, so he's actually considering...]

I'll... try. We'll do a trial run. See if I can even do this.

[He rubs his hands together, muttering something in a language that's seldom heard anymore, and a glow surrounds his fingers. He beckons Sora over.]

Transformation's not easy. If you end up a chicken, I can dispel it, though.
keybearing: (In the middle of the night)

No rush! Hope things calm down more at the tail end/weekend at least?

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-06-14 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
I have. A trail run?

[Sora can't help but perk up at that, curious and hopeful in spite of the caution in meeting a human, this close. Still, he tilts his head at the unfamiliar language, frowning as he listens, trying to understand it. He also has no idea what a chicken is, or if that should be concerning. But that doesn't stop him from approaching anyway, swimming into the shallower waters to get closer to Lea.]

You...you could do that? Transform me? Really?

[Sora had not necessarily expected, not being able to really tell who was aboard the ship, let alone not being too aware of what humans were capable of. At least, magic wise.]
somebodyperfect: (Focused)

It's over now, thank goodness.

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-06-14 11:53 am (UTC)(link)
[He frowns, but only for a second.]

You've been singing outside my home, my tower, how long? I'm a sorcerer. I can do a lot of things.

[When Sora gets close enough, Lea rests his hands on the merman's head. A soft glow will suffuse his body, and he'll feel... uncomfortable, honestly. Especially around the tail.]
keybearing: (I know I'll find)

Good.

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-06-15 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
That -- I wasn't sure who was here though.

[But whatever protests or supposed explanations Sora might have, it dies on his lips as the other lays a hand to his head. Fingers nestling among his spiky brown mop of hair. Sora's eyes close at the uncomfortable feeling, his fists at his sides clenching more, knuckles scraping against the rock as the transformation starts.

At one point he might wince, biting his lip in pain from it, but when he does open his eyes, he sees.....legs. Like Lea's. His blue eyes widen and he blinks, beaming in amazement as he lifts one of his feet from the water.]

I....I have legs! Feet!

[Sora wriggles his toes, laughing and biting his lip again before he then attempts to stand, shakily.]
somebodyperfect: (Talking smile)

[personal profile] somebodyperfect 2018-06-20 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and you need pants.

[He can't make something out of nothing, sadly, but he does spy something else.

Changing dead leaves into a pair of pants is easier than making a boy out of a merfolk, at least. They come out a little weird, but he tosses them over. Like the kid knows human fashion.]

One month, one moon phase. Then you better come back to either me or the ocean, because the magic'll wear off.
keybearing: (That you're making me feel)

[personal profile] keybearing 2018-06-20 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Pants?

[Sora gets the idea of covering up, from Lea and his outfit. But even so, it's new to him so he isn't as sure on figuring out how to put them on. He stumbles, trying to put them on and tripping in the process as he looks to Lea.]

A month? Okay. That sounds like plenty of time!
