Do they not know what's accompanying them in space, or is that what they're actively chasing?

[For photography, sunrise is one of the best parts of the day. With a proper lens and a good camera, the colors that stretch across the sky and the way shadows play across water and land alike.... It's fantastic.]

[Garry loves coming out to the ocean for shots like this. It's going to be great in his portfolio, sure, but mostly he just loves the whole feeling of it. Salt in the air, the breeze coming in from the sea... And as long as he wears his more punkish clothes, where holes are the whole point, then it's fine.]

[He's trying to get a good shot of the sunrise when something on the very edge of the camera seems to raise up out of the water and he pauses, blinking as he looks over his camera. Was that...? He raises his camera again, trying to see what's exactly out there in the sea.]

[Is that...? Yes it is. A human with a funny glass object. Being as shameless and curious as he is, he swims closer, just his head poking above the water for now.]

[His tone's not cocky, just curious.]

Ah-! [A little too easily startled, he jumps a bit before turning his head to where the voice is. Ah, he'd focused his camera too much. Of course he'd be snuck up on. Lowering his camera, he blinks down at the person down in the water and does his best not to stare.]

[It's not that mer are too unusual... It's just that he's never really gotten a chance to talk with one before.]

Oh, well, yes. I like the view. Do you... come around here a lot?

[He curls and uncurls his long serpentine tail, then considers.]

Not here, exactly, but there's a sunken ship not too far from here where I've been staying. Underwater's great and all, but sometimes I just want to see the lights. Sunrise is...really something, and we don't get much of it down there.

[Part of him wonders if he should be afraid, but he knows he can fight for himself if it becomes necessary. He doubts it will.]

A sunken ship... [He can't help the little bit of awe that comes through his voice at that.] That sounds amazing. I wish I could see that.

[Still, with the way he's talking, now Garry is wondering some things.]

Are there other things you'd like to see, then?

What's up there. All I see is a bunch of lights, and buildings...we have our little hideaways underwater, but nothing like that.

[He looks happy enough, anyway, and comes closer---still a distance away, so as not to be threatening, but most of his torso's out of the water now. Mostly human, with a few gill marks and a blue tinge leading down to the tail.]

I could draw some stuff for you? We have to carve everything on rocks down there, but sand's a lot easier.

[Well, things seem pretty calm right now, and it's not like he can't swim if he fall (or gets pulled) in... So Garry clambers down a little further down the rocks, nearer to the water.]

That'd be great. I can show you some pictures in return- I have a lot stored on my camera and laptop! Have you seen one of those before?

No, but I think I heard people talk about them. Comes up a lot, actually.

[He stretches on the sand casually, tail still happily curled in the water. It's definitely colder than he was prepared for, and it's hard not to shiver.]

'Kay, so...what do you want to see first, shipwreck?

[At least he seems pretty attentive, if he's been listening to things... Going through his bag, Garry comes a little closer.]

That'd be great! Do you draw on the sand a lot? [Wait-] Oh, but if it's too cold...
