Do they not know what's accompanying them in space, or is that what they're actively chasing?

It will be alright.

[Shiro is worried too. Worried over the rain, something he would have laughed at years and years ago. But with Rin not home and the rain picking up, he could easily get stranded somewhere. Either stuck in a building waiting for the rain to stop, or stuck in a river because he got caught outside...and of course he isn't answering his phone either. Brat.

But Shiro can't let his worry show. He's got to be strong and cool, for Yukio's sake. Because if Shiro starts to panic, then Yukio will too, and he definitely doesn't want that. If only because more panic at this state won't help anything.]

When the rain lets up, we can go looking for him.

[reflash]

He isn't responding to my texts. [Yukio's not... panicking, but he's always been a nervous, worried kid. Rin isn't responding, and the rain isn't showing any signs of letting up.]

He knows he's supposed to respond if he's caught outside. [That's why they have the cell phones, even though it's a strain on the budget.]

[lionson]

He might be in a spot where he can't respond at the moment. If he's stuck in a river, he can't exactly grab his phone.

[That thing would be fried instantly by the water.]

Be patient, it's alright. If he had been discovered, it would be all over the news.

[Which is on right now, by the way, and for that exact reason.]

[reflash]

I'm being patient! [He snaps, clearly not patient at all.

But the news being on doesn't help his stress, doesn't keep him from being concerned about the possibility of discovery. He's always on edge, but this is worse, this is the kind of thing that makes him feel sick and gets him yelling at his dad.]

[lionson]

[Yeah that just. Gets a Dad Look from Shiro.]

Patient enough to get snappy, hmm?

[reflash]

[The Dad Look always shuts him up, because Yukio's always been the good son, the obedient one, the one who never goes outside without an umbrella and a plan for what to do if he starts to transform, the one who's always watching for danger and completely aware of the risks. Yukio isn't the one who's going to get them killed one of these days.

He doesn't ask "what happens if he gets caught", because he knows what happens, he knows the plan, they've gone over it before and Yukio knows every step along the way.]

[lionson]

[Yukio might not be yelling anymore, but Shiro can still see the turmoil in his eyes. It's heartbreaking to watch. He doesn't want his boys to be afraid of anything, much less something like rain. He wants them to grow and learn and be good men, unhindered by the fact that they lead double-lives.

Sighing, Shiro holds up a hand and gestures to Yukio, inviting him in for a hug. They can't do much for Rin until the rain stops, but he can at least help Yukio here.]

[reflash]

[Yukio takes a step forward, and he might be as tall as Shiro now but he still... he still needs his dad, still needs reassurance that things are going to be okay. He doesn't cry anymore, but he still hides his face against his father's shoulder and tries not to freak out like he's some kind of terrified child.]

[lionson]

[That's fine, that's what Shiro is here for. He pulls Yukio into a hug, firm but not inescapable, as a means of grounding Yukio and making him feel secure. Yukio's always been the more sensitive brother, and even if he doesn't cry on the outside as much anymore Shiro can still see when he's upset.

He doesn't say anything at first, but when he does eventually speak, it's with a soft voice.]

We'll find your wayward brother soon, alright? Knowing him, he's probably splashing around in a nearby river like a goof.

[He chuckles at that thought.]

You might even have to chase him down. You were always the faster swimmer, you could catch him.

[reflash]

[His dad always knows what to do. Even when Yukio's too stressed out to make a plan, too worried to do anything but pace and glare at the rain, Shiro always knows what to do.

It helps, a lot. Yukio stays there for another moment or two, then pulls away because there's a pretty obvious limit to how long a hug lasts.]

When I catch him, I'm going to tie an umbrella to his wrist. [Annoyed is better than snappy, it means he's calmed down enough to be frustrated more than worried.]
